Oikon + Wesley liturgies are designed to guide you through 5-10 minutes of being present to God, self, and others. They feature a single prayer, quote, scripture, reflection question, and benediction. These liturgies are best when gone through slowly and deliberately either alone, with a partner, or a small group.
🕊️ Prayer
Take 5 deep and deliberate breaths.
With each breath, offer this prayer:
INHALE: In the midst of chaos
EXHALE: Your presence is near to me
🧘♀️ Quote
“The most important thing your life is not what you do, but who you become.”
Dallas Willard
📖 Ephesians 4:22-24
Read these words slowly. Listen for the Spirit of God. Which words stand out? How might God be comforting, prompting, or disrupting you through these words?
Put off your old self, which being corrupted by its desires; and be renewed in the spirit of your minds. Clothe yourself with the new self, created according to the likeness of God…
☕️ Contemplation
Spiritual maturity and a life of joy is marked by this practice: reframing every moment of the day.
The person driven by the ego asks, “What can I gain? How can I benefit from this moment?” Or “How can I quickly exit this situation?”
The person driven by the Spirit asks, “What is God up to? What kind of person is God forming me to be through this moment?”
Think about your schedule for today and tomorrow. How might they become moments of deeply knowing and extending the love of God?
🤲 Blessing
May you discover what the saints of old found - enduring joy in all moments of life because they were with God, enveloped in love and courage.
