🙏 A Poem and a Prayer for Heaven
This then is how you should pray…
Let Your Kingdom Come
And Your Will Be Done
On Earth as it is in Heaven
-Jesus of Nazareth
🙏 A Prayer for Heaven
God, I wish
sometimes
to escape.
War
poverty
misogyny
misuse of power
abuse of religion…
not to mention
my own
sins
I think of my daughters
the future before them…
And I wish
sometimes
for us all
to escape
Maybe to Portugal?
Maybe to Canada?
Some place where
You are
Where I
have not yet been…
But you taught us to pray
with words, imagination, and deed
for the ground beneath our feet
to be as it is
where you already are
Teach me to pray
Teach me to be
An agent of peace
a curator of space
where daughters are loved
and religion is pure.
Amen
🕊️ A Blessing
May you pray for Heaven to be made known, in and through and all around you, right where you are. May the God who loves justice, who cares for the widow and the orphan, find us faithful in seeking the Kingdom.
