Liturgy 030: Forgive Us Our Debts

If you Lord kept a record of sins
who could stand?
But with you there is forgiveness
Therefore you are feared
—Psalm 130

You tread our sins underfoot
and hurl our inquiries
into the depth of the sea
—Micah 7:19

This then is how you should pray…
Forgive us our debts
—Jesus of Nazareth

🙏 A Prayer for Grace

LORD
I hear and I
do not believe

You keep no record
of sin. With you
there is pardon.

Help my disbelief

False accusations
and executions
did not keep you
from praying for
the pardon
of uniformed
criminals

You and I are
unalike

I say I seek justice
I seek control

Help me
seek you

Until the unmerited grace flows
like a rewrite of my story

Every breath, now
as then,
a gift unearned

In the name of Jesus Christ
You are forgiven

Amen

May you live in awe of God’s grace. May you release the burden of needing to prove yourself to God, self, and others. You are forgiven. Rejoice.
