Liturgy 052: Slow Down, Eat Well, and Clean
🕊️ A Prayer and a Blessing to Return to God
☕️ Lectio Divina
When you criticize someone, see if you are doing so out of envy. Your criticism reveals more about yourself than you realize. Even if you are correct, people still may find you unappealing.
Haemin Sunim
Let us examine our ways and test them, and let us return to the LORD.
Lamentations 3:40
🪴 Prayer
There are things
I can only see
when I slow down
The warmth
of my first
morning sip
The distance
my soul has travelled
this year
The gift
of laughter and
shared memories
with my girls
When I am not slow,
I am governed
by reactive criticisms
spewing out of me
like a toddler
who ate
too fast
What is all this hurry for?
That food isn’t going anywhere, child.
Eat slow
Chew carefully
Shalom is
just beneath
your breath
LORD
I will be slow this morning,
and join you.
I’m picking up this broom
I’m sweeping out all the
critical, cynical dust
that has inhabited my heart.
I’m putting out
fresh new sheets
until the scent of
gracious attention
expands beyond
my little self.
I am returning to you.
🕊️ Blessing
May you slow down to look inward and around you.
May you say slowly and aloud, “This is all a gift.”
May Christ be victorious in your life.
In the Name of the Father Son and Holy Spirit
Amen
