Liturgy 059: The Eyes of the Christ Child
🕊️ A Prayer and a Blessing to see your ordinary and oft times sinful life as the dwelling place of God
☕️ Lectio Divina
This will be a sign to you:
You will find a baby
wrapped in cloths
lying in a manger
— The Gospel According to Luke
God walks among
the pots and pans
— St. Teresa of Avila
🪴 Prayer
LORD
You see me
My disfigured desires
LORD
You see me
The smallness of my intentions
LORD
You see me still
A creature made
Born of your Image
LORD
Help me see as you do
Disentangling immaturity
From inherent beauty
Even a toddler
stumbling through
the mud against
a parent’s wishes
is worthy of love
and full of possibility
Help me LORD
in these days
To look deeper
into the eyes
of the Christ child
In the Palestinian
infant peasant boy
the Divine and Humanity
danced as One
A Holy Ordinary
World of Love
Receiving the Humble Care
of Mary and Joseph
May my own life become
such a place
May my conventional
unspectacular human life
and all its shortcomings
not be a hindrance,
but a dwelling
for you to be
born anew
this day
🕊️ Blessing
Dear Friend
During these Days of Advent may you catch yourself in autopilot and continue whatever is in front of you with the Nearness of Christ. May you ponder the mystery that Christ is being born anew within and through your regular life. In you is the possibility of divine love, renewal, reconciliation, compassion, and unrelenting hope. May you be the manger in which Christ arrives to those around you.
Amen
